Cummins was the co-founder of the ceramic studio 'Ashford Pottery' in Co. Wicklow. She became the chairwoman of WAAG (Women Artists Action Group) in 1987, developing the 'Artists in Prison' ongoing programme in Mountjoy Prison, Dublin. Exploring the body and female sexuality through performance and installation, Cummins has worked as a member of the 'Inner Art' group, exhibiting several temporary artworks as part of the community art / public art project in Dublin. She has also curated exhibitions including 'Locus Suspetus Where the hidden comes to light' at the Ormeau Baths Gallery.
