Maher explores ideas of subversion and transforamtion, of relationships of scale between the object and the body and of the meaning of borders and frontiers. She uses a wide variety of natural materials, notably thorns, cotton thread and human hair. She also uses the more traditional sculptual materials of bronze and steel. A member of Aosdána since 1996, she has exhibited extensively throughout Europe, America, Canada and Japan. File contains an extensive collection of newspaper clippings, press releases, catalogues, illustrated publications, photographs and images of the artist's work.
