Mooney is an academic landscape and still life painter. He draws inspiration from Donegal and Tuscany and is especially interested in architectural features and light. He lived in Spain for several years and is influenced by Spanish landscpe painting. Mooney has exhibited extensively and is represented in many public and private collections.
