Notes
Connolly's performance and sculptural installation pieces explore the idea of counterbalance and tension. He creates delicate and precarious works that are visually and phsically interrelated. An associate lecturer of sculpture at the University of Ulster, Belfast, he received many public commissions including; the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, the Department of Education for Northern Ireland, Stena Line and Dublin Corporation. He was a board member of the Sculptors' Society of Ireland and the Association of Artists in Ireland from 1992-1995. He has also been a board member and co-instigator of Diaspora Project, Living Art Projects, Circa magazine editorial, Nomad Territories and the Project Arts Centre. He has served on the management committee of BBeyond as Chair and Vice Chair, and the former Moyle Art in Public Places, all which initiated and developed projects that deal with aspects of contextual art. He established the Belfast International Festival of Performance Art in 2013.
