Scope and Content
Book of entrance forms for the Irish Exhibition of Living Art for the 1956 and 1957 exhibition. Forms are pasted into the book and arranged alphabetically by artist. They record artist's name and address, nature of work, title and price. Many entries are crossed out and given a number. Some entries have additions i.e. notes from artists regarding prices or hanging instructions e.g. letter from George Campbell, Artist, to Col. Knox, Secretary, Irish Exhibition of Living Art "...I wanted to tell you that one frame...is thin and shaky and I imagine it will be difficult to put screws into it for hanging purposes. May I suggest this..." (p.10) and letter from Gerard Dillon, Artist to Michael, [Irish Exhibition of Living Art] "...I kept the prices low so that we wouldn't have the trouble of bringing the paintings to the export office. So if you would change the prices for the catalogue...I will not be over to give a helping hand much as I'd love to, I just haven't a 'bean'...I am painting away...but I wonder why, sometimes it all seems so hopeless and can see it like a bad habit and nothing more. Who wants them?" (p.12)
