A hardback red slipcase containing two volumes. The first volume is a hardback red book with a leather and paper cover. It contains a translation of the saga Maldon, which describes a battle between Vikings and Saxons that took place in August 991 at Maldon in Essex. The text, an introduction and translation by Michael Smith, is letterpress printed. There are also wood engravings by Simon Brett. The second volume is a red hardback folder containing two loose sheets of paper, each featuring an engraving by Simon Brett.
