- Date: 2017-02-03
Scope and Content:
Work by graduates of Crawford College of Art & Design 2008 - 2013 curated by Aideen Quirke. This exhibition reflects a cross-section of artists that emerged from CIT Crawford College of Art and Design in recent years who made something happen in Cork and further afield after graduating, and continue to do so. The artwork they produced, the organisations they established, the events they set in motion, however small or large, are part of the story of Cork City after the economic collapse of 2008, and how artists show resilience and determination to thrive in the face of crises and depression. The artists included in this exhibition are Rebecca Bradley, Mark Buckeridge, Tom Doig, Christabel Geary, Gerald Heffernan, Jessie Malone, Rachel McDonnell, Frank McGrath, Kate-Bowe O'Brien, Emily O'Flynn, Aideen Quirke, and Pádraig Spillane. This is the first of two exhibitions that were awarded by CIT Wandesford Quay Gallery to recent graduates of CIT Crawford College of Art and Design. A call for proposals went out to graduates in 2015 looking for innovative uses of the gallery space and ways of engaging with the CIT community and wider public. The second of these exhibitions will take place in April 2017.
