Victor Waddington Galleries presented European Modern art and artists of the British avant-garde in an Irish context. In 1939, Waddington brought 270 works by Irish artists represented by the gallery to New York to coincide with the World's Fair and the opening of the new the Museum of Modern Art building. following Waddington's move to London in 1957, many of the gallery artists were taken on by Leo Smith of the Dawson Gallery.
