The Library serves a wide range of researchers including art and design practitioners, authors, lecturers, scholars and historians as well as the general public interested in current, historical and biographical information on the visual arts in Ireland. 

NIVAL staff are available for assistance and advice on how best to use the resource.  Our reading room is equipped with study tables, WiFi access, black & white photocopying and colour scanning to USB.  Access is available to electronic and hard copy indexes of the collection including NIVAL's databases of Artists, Galleries and Exhibitions.  The Library provides self-service photocopying facilities in accordance with the terms of copyright law.

Please note that our resources do not allow us to undertake research on behalf of the our visitors, nor are we able to supply copies by post, fax or email.
