Scope and Content
This collection is a comprehensive record of the development of embroidery as an art from in Ireland. Although the earliest records date from 1905 the majority of material covers the existence of Embroidery Artists as a group from the mid 1970's to 2009. While many of the sub series relate to the internal administration of Embroidery Artists, such as correspondence, minutes of meetings, newsletters, finance and sales, others such as exhibitions, press, sampler embroidery and stitching archive, images and collection of laces provide insight into the wider development of embroidery as a contemporary art form in Ireland and examples of the specific techniques, traditions and influence of embroidery.
