Organisational policies

Find details of NIVAL’s organisational and workplace policies below, including our commitment to public access, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and Paying the Artist, and our workplace Code of Behaviour.

Maximum Access

NIVAL prioritises accessibility to all of our materials. There is no fee to visit NIVAL or view any of our collections, and there is no cost for donating materials to us. We pursue a ‘no cost to artists’ policy in line with the Arts Council of Ireland’s Paying the Artist policy and offer a benefit-in-kind service of appraisal and archiving. We have developed our online catalogue and website to maximise access to our information about our collections. If you have a query regarding the accessibility of materials in our collections that are being processed, please get in touch. NIVAL staff are always available to offer general information on Irish art and specialist advice on consulting the collections.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Read NIVAL’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy and Action Plan.

Paying the Artist

Read NIVAL’s Paying the Artist policy and guidelines.

Safe to Create, Dignity in the Workplace

NIVAL supports Safe to Create and has signed up to the Dignity in the Workplace Code of Behaviour for the Irish Arts & Creative Sectors. The Code was developed so all those working in the arts can be clear as to their rights and obligations regarding respect and dignity at work.
