On Wednesday 23 July, Muriel Beckett Weaver of the Irish Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers will explore the legacy of Helen Lillias Mitchell through records and files kept in NIVAL. Mitchell set up the Guild in 1975, she also set up the Weaving Dept at NCAD, and by bequest established an annual independent artistic prize fund, the Golden Fleece Award.

On Thursday 24 July, explore the history of the Liberties Festival, in the company of current Festival Director Michael McDermott, through programmes over the years held in the NIVAL collection.

On Friday 25 July, join artist Beatrice O’Connell for a discussion of her eco-feminist art practice and collaboration with Rayleen Clancy, MUTUALISM, which was shown at the Courthouse Gallery & Studios in January 2025. Beatrice’s work hopes to foster a conversation about the interconnectedness of life and invites audiences to reflect on the power of creativity, play, and community in navigating the complexities of our shared environment. They will also explore further connections and examples of eco-feminist and ecological practice in the archives at NIVAL.
